PDF File Download: Final Fantasy IV – Theme of Love NAF Tab
Original Composer: Nobuo Uematsu
Technical notes: Requires use of cross-fingering, half-holing and one upper octave note. Play on an NAF in the key of D if you wish to accompany the original track.
About: This piece is one of the best known musical themes from Final Fantasy IV, played in the game at points of romantic interaction between two of the main characters, Cecil and Rosa. Interestingly, the piece is so popular in Japan that it’s included in the official textbook for the musical curriculum of sixth grade Japanese students!
On playing: The first section is played twice, as noted in the tab; second time round you’ll play the alternate last line before progressing on to the rest. It’s quite challenging to play as there are some big jumps between notes – in the first line you’re coming from the upper three notes covered to all closed with the bottom half-holed and in the second line there’s a jump into the upper register and back. Practicing at a steady pace and improving your breath control will help.
