Memoirs of a Geisha – Sayuri’s Theme

PDF File Download: Memoirs of a Geisha – Sayuri’s Theme NAF Tab

Original Composer: John Williams

Technical notes: Requires use of rapid cross-fingering. Play on an NAF in the key of A if you wish to accompany the original track.

About: A beautiful leitmotif heard throughout the score for the film which acts as the theme for the main character, Sayuri, who undergoes a transformation from a child learning her way in the Okiya to fully fledged Geisha. Often gorgeously rendered on Cello by the very talented Yo-Yo Ma. I only tabbed the first two lines for now as the rest of it jumps out of the NAF’s range; hopefully I’ll find a workaround for it and update it in the future.

On Playing: Though short, the theme is played fairly fluidly and swiftly with lots of tricky fingerings, so learn it at a steady pace before you attempt it at normal speed.
