PDF File Download: Final Fantasy VI – The Phantom Forest NAF Tab
Original Composer: Nobuo Uematsu
Technical notes: Requires use of cross-fingering, half-holing and two upper octave note. Play on an NAF in the key of A if you wish to accompany the original track.
About: A wonderfully eerie, mystical-sounding theme that plays as the characters venture through a ghost-filled forest on their way to the Phantom Train. It’s rendered as a flute-like sound on the original soundtrack, so it suits the NAF very well.
On Playing: The first two upper octave notes are used within this piece, which most NAFs should be able to reach without a problem. Most of it follows a very linear up-and-down the scale progression (including the half holed-notes) so it’s fairly simple to play. You may notice that in a couple of areas (the third line, starting at 0:36 on the track, and the second half of the fourth line, starting at 1:00) you’ll be an octave below the original track as the NAF just can’t reach that high.
