PDF File Download: Final Fantasy VI – Searching for Friends NAF Tab
Original Composer: Nobuo Uematsu
Technical notes: Requires use of cross-fingering, half-holing and an upper octave note. Play on an NAF in the key of C if you wish to accompany the original track.
About: An uplifting theme that becomes the world map music as the characters begin to re-unite after the devastation wrought on them by Kefka’s madness and prepare for their final battle to defeat him and return the world to balance.
On Playing: As noted within the tab, the first two lines are repeated once before progressing to the rest of the piece.
The most tricky part is probably the first line, where you’ll have to jump between the half-holed bottom note and a cross fingering (second hole open, all others closed) – learning to roll your lowest finger partway off the bottom hole and back on again, rather lifting it and placing it back down, will give you much greater accuracy and speed when playing. The fingering on the next line jumps around a lot too, but take it steady whilst you’re learning it and you’ll be fine. The rest of the piece shouldn’t present any problem.
